About Redshift Pictures

Redshift Pictures specializes in unconventional productions and rigging-intensive shoots. Recent projects include mounting a 35mm camera outside a building’s 21st floor to film a time-lapse of the erection of Times Square’s largest billboard. Another recent production played out like an episode of ‘Fear Factor’ when interviewee Marilyn Manson was lit by hanging high-powered lighting from the underside of a defunct watertower on the roof of a Manhattan factory building.

Custom rigs were built and used in the filming of Style Sessions by rigging a film camera to the front and side of a skateboard, which looked back at the board.

Director/Producer Nick Catania has over ten years' experience working on all types of productions in and around the NYC area. He recenty completed post-production on a video about the recent revival of Fillmore East Legend Joshua White's 'Joshua Light Show' with Gary Panter. This short video documents the artists' process and relates the viewing experience of the audience. It can be seen on the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum website. Nick also recently directed a music video for the Seattle-based band Regular. Previously, he directed 'Wake and Bake,' a satirical morning show for stoners, starring up and coming comedian Owen Burke. He also co-produced and directed Broadway Bomb with collaborator Steve Dempsey. Nick continues to pursue his philosophy of collecting unusual life experiences; recently strengthening that pursuit by playing several Iron Maiden cover songs with two ordained Buddhist monks.
